Message from FCVC President, Tom Kerkhoff
The final months of the volleyball season, particularly the weeks leading up to Ontario Championships and Nationals, brings so much excitement and anticipation for our athletes, coaches, and families. The cancellation of these events bears a heavy weight on all of us. The teams were all training and preparing hard, and we know your effort, time and commitment would have paid off in these final competitions. Since the news of cancellation, we have seen lots of our FCVC athletes posting videos and sharing their love for the game with the community. Seeing your heads held high, handling yourselves with such strength and integrity despite your disappointment makes us so proud, and is exactly what FCVC stands for. We hope you are all staying healthy and safe in the comfort of your homes and continuing to practice social distancing through this state of emergency. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our club members for any support you may need in the weeks ahead. We remain a team on and off the court.
Plans for reimbursement:
We are working closely with our club Treasurer to process and redistribute the refunded registration fees from the OVA for all cancelled OVA tournaments including Provincial Championships. Where appropriate, Team Managers will represent their team as point of contact for the club Treasurer through this process.
Banquet:
In compliance with government guidelines around social distancing, the end of season banquet has been cancelled. The health and safety of our athletes and families is our top priority, and we look forward to the day when we can gather and celebrate in true FCVC spirit. In the interim, we are exploring creative ways to recognize all of your accomplishments this season as athletes, all of the dedication this season from our Coaches, and extend our best wishes to our graduating athletes (who will join the ranks of the great FCVC Alumni).
Summer Camps:
Registration for all FCVC Summer Camps is now open on our website. In these uncertain times, we have provided you with the option of deferred payment. We recognize our athletes are keen to play again, and our Coaches and Program Directors are equally excited to get back to the sport we love!
