Volleyball Canada Club Accreditation

FCVC is one of only five clubs in Canada to be awarded Volleyball Canada Club Accreditation for all three years of the program. We are extremely proud to be recognized for excellence, and as a model for volleyball club organizations in Canada. This accreditation is awarded annually to clubs who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in several areas including coach, athlete and volunteer development, accountable governance, gender balance, and club capacity, among other criteria.

Philosophy

The mission statement of FCVC is three-fold:

  • Foster an interest, appreciation and love of volleyball at the grassroots level.
  • Provide young athletes with the opportunity to develop their skills through playing at both the recreational and competitive level.
  • Provide our elite athletes with access to regional, provincial and national programs, as well as post-secondary volleyball programs in both Canada and the United States.

History

The Forest City Volleyball Club – in its current incarnation – was founded in 1992, and the 2016-2017 season is our 25th anniversary season.   Prior to 1992, the growth of competitive volleyball in London was fueled by the hard work of current and former FCVC members. From the Junos in the 1960s, through Kineldiego in the 1970s and 1980s, to the North London Volleyball Club in the early 1990s, competitive youth volleyball in London has grown and flourished.

Over the years, graduates of the Forest City Volleyball Club have gone on to compete at the College and University level throughout North America. Several outstanding FCVC athletes have competed for Ontario and Canada, including one of the best athletes to ever represent Canada, current FCVC coach Paul Duerden.

Forest City Volleyball Club started small, but it has grown and maintained its tradition of excellence thanks to the countless hours contributed by our dedicated volunteers.

The Future

As the Forest City Volleyball Club enters its next decade of operation, we look to extend our tradition of providing excellent volleyball training to athletes in the London, Ontario region.   Our competitive teams will represent London well at the top of the Provincial and National ranks, and our developmental programs are working with the next generation of elite athletes.

We are always looking for interested people to join our group of enthusiastic and committed volunteers. Whether to coach, or help out behind the scenes, please contact us if you are interested in joining us as we continue on our adventure!
